This post is dedicated to the few, the proud... The Bronados softball team. With an impressive win last night, we finished the regular season in a 3-way tie for first place.

I chose to celebrate with this little guy.

Sinking Ships @ Chain Reaction. Anaheim, CA

This band ruled so hard, but they are playing their last show at the Sound and Fury festival on Sunday. I really wanted to go, but it just wasn't in the cards. Maybe next year. In this clip you can see me air drumming in the front row. Oops.

Why should I love a world that won't love me back?

Update from the past week and change.

Strawberry cheesecake and strawberry/rhubarb cake. I love dessert at family gatherings.

Shipwreck played under a coffee shop. There was a couch being thrown around, so you know it was good.

"I don't believe in anything at all except my hate, because its the only thing with me every fucking day"

This is my dad, he is a bus driver. All his work friends say he looks like Papa Smurf, so he got this tattoo:

I love my dad.

RIP ATIP

Learning of a friend passing is the worst possible news. Atip was a friend of mine that I met through my ex-girlfriend in San Diego. He was riding his bike home from work on Thursday night and was hit by a car. I didn't know him as well as I would have liked, but it seriously bums me out that I will never get to hang out with him again.

"Community members will lock up a "Ghost Bike" to remember Atip's life, which was unfairly taken from him, his family, friends, and this community. This will be the first Ghost Bike we know of in San Diego. Let's work together to make sure it's the last."

RIP

Please ride safe.

What the chicken?

Weeeeeiiiirrrrdd.

This is why we work.

Who doesn't love a good lunch date? Apparently someone didn't want a good friend and I to have one because the Pyramid Falafel truck was a ghost. Affinity's lunch buffet had a pretty good rep, so there we went.

Shit was hot, or Cory trying to blow it a kiss. Choose your own adventure.

Too bad it's pay by weight, or things could have really gotten out of hand.

Ballin' outta control.

Later on I met up with Ben for another nice meal and some bike parts shopping.

Ben's first trip to the North Star. Ben Approves.

Veggie Burgers all around. Always worth the trip.

Some gems that I rescued from my mom's garage sale on the weekend:

Winnipeg Jets playoff hand clackers.

Old Maiden cardboard poster.

Good haul.

Sooooooooo....

Do you like fun? I thought so.

Jet black to the center.

Huge nostalgia fest this weekend. Moving sale at my Mom's house that my family lived in since I was 3 months old. No pics, but I did rescue a few cool things (Winnipeg Jets playoff noise maker) and made enough to buy myself a couple slurpees.

My cousin Mel is moving to Australia at the end of the week, goodbye party @ The King's Head. We used to share pieces of cake at birthdays. I got the icing, she got the cake. We were both stoked.

I think she forgot they sell food also.

Crucial BBQ w/ killer potato salad.

This is Breanne. We realized that it has been 21 years since our moms introduced us and I ran away and hid behind a tree. She is now engaged, and I still run away from girls from time to time.

Chocolate Orange Cake. Perfect way to end a wonderful weekend.

No Warning @ Posi Numbers Fest 2002

Clobberin' Time/A Day In The Life/Almost There. One of the few times I have been scared for my life. So many big dudes moshing kids to pieces.

It is what it is.

I've been getting a few more people into LOST lately, and the best part is watching their reactions as crazy stuff happens. Start of season 2.

You know it.

"Oh hey Nate. I know I give you allergic reactions, but I'm just gonna climb all over you. Cool?"

Went out for dinner with my literal bro, thought we would try a new mexican joint called Don Pedro. It was ok, not to toot my own horn, but I can make better burritos at home and I think I will next time. Note for veg heads: Beans are lard free, but the rice has chicken broth in it. Just a heads up.

California Burrito. So many beans, probably not the best choice for a first date.

Fried Ice Cream. I was super stoked when I saw this on the menu as I hadn't had any since Chi Chi's closed down who knows how long ago. Kind of a let down, but it is what it is.

Here's one smiling face that wasn't a let down. Ari holding down the dishes, afro pick and all.

Went to check out a few metal bands at the Albert afterwards, and they did not disappoint. Besiege was on a serious Thrash tip. They covered VIO-LENCE, and much moshing ensued.

Evil Survives absolutely floored me, this band is going to go places.

This may or may not have been serious. I guess you'll never know.

Dinner date with Sarde!

Met up with this lovely lady at Miyabi. New joint to me, but not to the sushi scene. I sat back and relaxed and she ordered for both of us.

After a brief appetizer round, the craziness started. I can't remember what all the rolls are, but I'm sure with a trip to the veg section of the menu, you will be pleasantly suprised.

Eat it 'til it's gone.

Funny face aside, she held her own.

Held her own so much that we popped into Baked
Expectations for a quick slice of their Key Lime Pie.

Would you expect anything less?

Holy Shitballs!

So excited.

Thank you Lambgoat for keeping me in the know.

Slowly, but surely I'm losing control...

Lot's of hanging out, not so many pics... oops!

Crucial campfire. I hate white rabbits.

One of the best parts of a good bromance is eating a nice meal. Falafel Breakfast @ Falafel Place (new spot on corydon between harrow and wilton). Easily the best breakfast spot in the city. The only complaints I have heard are about how busy it gets on weekends after church/synagogue, and how the owner asks people if they are done sometimes. Both of which can be avoided if you go before 11 or after 2, and are not a complete dipshit loser. Seriously, if you want to hang out and drink coffee after your meal go to a coffee shop. Don't sit at a busy restaurant when there is a huge line out the door, that's just a straight up dick move. End rant, sorry.

Monday Madness. Toppings of the week: tomato and fresh basil. Thanks to Sarde for the suggestion.

Sometimes you just gotta give in to the sweet tooth. Mocha Torte @ Baked Expectations.

Guns Up! 3rd last show @ Chain Reaction, Anaheim CA.

For the longest time I couldn't stand this band. All I kept thinking about was how bummed I was that No Warning weren't playing shows anymore. I went to this show for the opening bands (Blacklisted, Down To Nothing, Sinking Ships, Shipwreck), but left a fan. Any time I hear kids singing along over the music I get stoked. And the rest is history.

OUTLIVE OUTLIVE.

Nya Nya part 2.

One of my favourite bands, and one of my favourite lines leading into a song.

Summer fun mini-update.

Seriously, how cool is Batman? I can't stop thinking about comics these days. This is the start of my probable downfall.

BBQ tofu sandwich with vegan caesar salad @ The Royal Albert Diner.

"What's your tag?"
"Vagina."
"Oh."

Oops.

Ultimate summer fun.

This is a new segment of Hopeless Bromantic, called "Shows that I was at, and you probably weren't."

Promises Kept by Champion. From their last show, Seattle 2006.
